After a vocational training to the toolmaker he had studied at the Technical University Dresden and the University of Surrey in Guildford (UK) electrical engineering with the deepening direction power electronics. He worked from 1996 to 2000 as scientific employee on the chair of agricultural machinery in the Technical University Dresden and did a doctorate on "optimization and control of diesel-electric driving drives for agricultural machinery". Form 2000 to 2003 he worked in the Simplorer®-team for the companies SIMEC and Ansoft Corporation. There he was responsible for the development of mathematical algorithms.
